THAT CHRISTMAS WAS DIFFERENT
'Twas the night before Christmas a long time ago,
There were not any reindeer, nor any snow.
There was not any Santa Claus, jolly and fat,
not even a sleigh it was long before that.
No one hung up their stocking, there was no tree,
all laden with gifts, no one shouted with glee.
If you had been there you surely would know,
that Christmas as different along time ago.
It was not of toys the angels did sing.
nor books or blocks or any such thing.
Something more wonderful, a wee baby's birth.
Who came down from heaven to bring peace on earth.
"Peace on earth! Peace on earth! The first carol rang.
"Glory to god in the highest," they sang.
If you had been there, you surely would know,
that Christmas as different a long time ago.
Yes, in Bethlehem City a long time ago,
Jesus was born, the story you know.
Born to bring peace, not war and destruction,
"Good will to men," was the angel's instruction.
Born to make brother of all mankind,
the sick and the lame, the poor and the blind.
Born to bring peace to the high and the low,
on that night before Christmas, a long time ago.
